When the starter battery rises voltage but the service counter remains firm, change alternator is a premature conclusion. An open fuse, a fall, an Argo exit, the Cyrix logic, a service command or an incorrect connection can stop the charge. Insulators and combinators work in different ways, so the diagnosis starts from device identification. They measure input, outputs and counters in the same conditions, the source occurs and is restored only after trying off motor separation and charge under real load.

Picture the state and identify the docks

Measure the alternator first

The voltage to the alternator terminal and the input of the device occurs during authorized conditions. A difference locates cable, fuse or upstream connection. The voltage is also observed under load, because a minimum reading without current can be misleading. They are considered regulator, sensing, temperature and electronic engine management. Do not disconnect the battery with active alternator for test. If the source does not reach the expected behavior, the separator cannot correct it. The diagnosis of the alternator precedes its replacement.

Check fuses on both sides

Each battery can feed the path, so all the protections are identified, not only the one close to the alternator. The voltage is measured on the sides of the fuse in the same conditions. Compare input and each Argo output

On an insulator, input and outputs are measured at the same time, with current. Differences between the benches can depend on the expected fall, cabling or charging status. A voltageless output is separated from the downstream problem by checking fuse and cable. There is no entry and exit under load. Diode models consider the compensation of the expected source; the variant data are applied on the FETs. The final test compares voltage and current, not only a spy.

Adjustment and auxiliary terminals

Some isolators and alternators require auxiliary connections for excitement or compensation. It identifies the function on the manual and the engine schema. A free wire is not connected to the positive for attempts. An incorrect terminal can prevent the start of the charge or alter the adjustment. The voltage is measured at the expected point and there is a secure circuit continuity. After the remedy, the charge curve and temperature of the alternator are observed. Cyrix does not combine: check conditions

Before declaring the fault relay, both batteries are measured and it is confirmed that the logic of the variant should actually close. Times, thresholds and detection follow the model, not a generic memory. We control power, mass, terminals and command. A very low battery or a contemporary load can change behavior. You listen or measure the state without relying on the only click. The closure is confirmed by the reduction of the voltage difference and the controlled current flow.

Cyrix does not separate: search for hidden sources

With engine off, dock or solar can maintain a voltage that justifies the state of the combiner. They draw all sources before accusing a glued contact. If the conditions require opening but the benches remain united, the state of the relay is measured and is isolated according to procedure. A permanent parallel can also download start-up. You do not hit or disconnect the device under current. After repair, it is possible to separate each source off and then the effect of the sources once at a time.

EQ current between benches

When two batteries with different voltages are joined, it can flow independent of the alternator. It is measured with suitable tool and compares with cables, fuses and size of the combiner. A high peak can result from a very unloaded service counter or faulty battery. The start-assist is not used to force a counter. If chemicals or states are incompatible, the procedure is interrupted. Diagnosis includes internal capacity and resistance, avoiding Cyrix being replaced when it is only reacting to problematic batteries.

Start-assist and remote control

The assistance command is checked according to the variant and the scheme. Button, wiring, protection and duration must be identified. An active command can accidentally hold the united benches; one interrupted can make the emergency unavailable. It is only tested with polarity, batteries and safe path, without repeating starts. The point current is not supposed to be compatible. After release, separation occurs. The crew receives a procedure that distinguishes temporary assistance, charging and fault of the starter.

Fall on cables and return negative

It is measured the fall on the positive of each branch and on the negative return during the charge. Long cables or resistive capicords can cause a correct output to appear insufficient. Measures should be carried out at the same time and with known current. The common negative is inspected, including engine and bar connections. A weak return limits both benches and can heat away from the separator. After isolation you control crimping and couples. The repair is validated by repeating the same load and comparison.

Heat, ventilation and overload

The temperature of the device is evaluated with recorded current, time and environment. Argo a diodi, FET and relay have different dissipations. Battery not accepting charge

Internal connections, degraded capacity, temperature, BMS or faulty cell may limit acceptance. The separator is not replaced because the counter remains unloaded after a few minutes. Other sources that alter the test

Bench, solar and DC charger can raise a counter and change state to the combinator. Before the test you decide which sources should be active and note each step. A sun panel can hide a weak alternator; a dock charger can keep the Cyrix closed. On Argo, the outputs remain connected to the source connected to the entrance. Restoration and full test
