Saturday, November 7, in the Gulf of Tigullio in Liguria, will take place the “PreWinter Championship Race”, an event dedicated to all owners of sailing boats, regardless of their size or equipment. The event, organized by the Sailing Club of Tigullio, is the anticipation of the Tigullio Winter Championship, which celebrates its 50 years of history and prestige. The event is open to all, with free participation and possibility to moor the boat at no cost. The race will take place in the sea along a historic and iconic route, which embraces the entire Gulf of Tigullio, with a spectacular stretch in front of Monte di Portofino. Race and award: a unique event
The “PreWinter Championship Race” will take place at 11 a.m., with a regatta sailing of just over a dozen miles. The boats will be divided into two categories: Sport Boat and Cruising Boat, based on the use of sails. Each boat will receive a “rating” to compete with equal weapons, taking into account the specific characteristics. The final classification, divided by categories, will be unveiled only at the time of the award, which will be held in the afternoon. It is not said that the boat that arrives first wins, since the ranking takes into account several factors. The event is designed for everyone, with open participation in any type of boat, of any size and equipment.
After the race, crews will meet at Marina di Lavagna at 17.30/18 for the big party on the ground. The event includes a rich refreshment, during which stories and jokes will be exchanged on sea trips. The winners will receive prizes, but even those who do not rank among the first will be able to win accessories thanks to the draw. The Sailing Newspaper, which supports the event, will provide special draw prizes for all participants, regardless of the sporting result.
