You need to ask for local documentation, confirm equipment and repeat route control personally. Add updated weather, VHF efficiency, reserve fuel and a briefing understandable even to those who do not conduct.
The early decision
Predict to reduce the route when the unit or area is not familiar to the crew. Always consult Coast Guard e Hydrographic Institute of the Navy and the agencies of the visited area. Repeat control just before dropping mooring reduces the risk that a last-minute novelty stays out of the plane.
