To navigate the maritime areas affected by military activities it is not enough to know where to go: you need to know where not to pass, when to stop and what option to use if the program changes. Priority control covers active areas only in certain days and hourly bands.
A risk often underestimated
The situation to be avoided is to rely on an old GPS track that crosses a temporarily busy area. Legal and operational conditions can change even if costs, foundations and GPS track look identical.
The Commander's answer
You need to consult alerts and urgent communications, checking validity and coordinates. Add updated weather, VHF efficiency, reserve fuel and a briefing understandable even to those who do not conduct.
The early decision
Expect to calculate an external route with sufficient margin and update the estimated time. Always consult Coast Guard e Hydrographic Institute of the Navy and the agencies of the visited area. Repeat control just before dropping mooring reduces the risk that a last-minute novelty stays out of the plane.
