A self-inflatable jacket can look perfect while a already perforated cylinder, an unarmed head or a forgotten belt make it unreliable. The UML Pro Sensor Elite system control window helps, but does not replace an ordered verification. This analysis refers to the Spinlock Deckvest 6D and DURO configurations with their respective options, keeping distinct models, pushes and kits. The goal is not to disassemble all before each exit: it is to discover in time the defects that the distracted eye leaves in the custody.
Identify exactly model, push and system
Before touching the jacket laws label, version and thrust declared. Deckvest 6D can be 170 N or 275 N and use UML Pro Sensor Elite; Deckvest VITO instead adopts a Hammar hydrostatic activation. The procedure and replacement must belong to the real device, not to the same brand in general. Record identification number, configuration and date of last intervention. If the label or manual are not readable, the control stops until the identity is rebuilt.
The first inspection is done without opening the case
Check cuts, abrasions, contamination, seams, front closure and deformations. See if the device has been crushed, wet with salt water or exposed to fuel and solvents. Check that the manual command is present, visible and free. The case must appear closed according to the intended design, not held by tape or clamps. Anomalous odor, swelling or an off-site flap require thorough inspection, not pressure to get it back.

The window is a quick check, not a final verdict
The UML configuration window allows you to observe the cylinder and mechanism indicators without opening the case each time. Compare colors and location with the model manual. Condense, reduced visibility or an inconsistent indicator impose the expected opening. Do not shake the vest and do not operate the command to "see if it works". A green indicator does not exclude hidden corrosion, room damage or missing accessories: it only certifies what the system claims to show.
The cylinder must be correct, full and well fixed
Open the case only as indicated and check that the cylinder belongs to the exact kit of the version. Look for corrosion, bruises, damaged threads and puncture marks. If the manual prescribes mass verification, use a proper balance and the values shown on the cylinder; do not invent tolerance. The clamping follows the procedure, without pliers or random sealers. A polished but already used cylinder remains empty, while a badly mounted full can separate during activation.
The 170 N kit is not exchanged with the 275 N
The rooms with different thrust require quantity of gas and combined components. Spinlock kits indicate specific variants, commonly associated with different cylinders, but the only operating reference is the code of its own model and its own edition. Store spare parts labeled in separate containers and associate each with the vest. Thread similarity, color or packaging is not compatibility. After each rehab updates inventory and stock, because a kit used does not remain available for the next emergency.
The automatic cartridge must be armed as expected
Check UML Pro Sensor Elite according to the manufacturer's indicators and sequence. Search for signs of activation, humidity, salt deposit, date or useful life of the component when reported. Do not dip the cartridge to try it and do not reuse disposable parts. If the system is taken, replace all the elements prescribed by the kit, not only the visibly broken one. A compatible capsule in appearance can have different characteristics and should not be chosen outside the official matrix.
The manual command must be graspable with a hand
The handle must protrude in the established position, bring the expected marking and slide without being tied to other accessories. Try only accessibility, without pulling. Wear the vest over the wax and check with both hands, because one injured person could use one. The command must not remain under a belt, a radio or the belt of a bag. If the line is flawed or the fixing doubt, the device comes out of service.
The oral valve is not a secondary stopper
Locate tube, valve and cap. They must be clean, intact and accessible after inflating. The hood also often performs a function in air management according to the model: do not replace it with a generic cap. Do not introduce tools and do not blow moisture in the room during a summary check. When the manual provides an oral swelling and seal test, run it in clean environment for the time indicated, then dry and deflate with the correct procedure.
The room is controlled without aggressive folds
Spread the room on a smooth surface, away from oil, vines and edges. Search for abrasions, delaminations, compromised seams, loose valves and discolored areas. Do not use detergents, patches or unauthorized glues. A loss, even slow, is not resolved by tightening the cylinder stronger. If the test is not exceeded, it entrusts the jacket to a competent service. Filling a dubious room transfers the problem to the next dive and cancels the only easy opportunity to discover it.
The undergam belt must be there and must be used
Check buckles, tape, stitching and path. The belt should not be returned, knotted, passed into command elements or hidden in the case. Adjust it to the user with the expected clothing and try the closure with gloves. After checking, leave it ready according to the instructions, not too long to avoid discomfort. An intact but never fastened tape is an operational defect: in the register it must be treated as lack of availability, not as a personal preference.
Imbrago and HRS require distinct control
Inspect textiles, seams, connection point and soft ring HRS when present. Look for wear, cuts, contamination and deformation due to load. Check that the release command remains accessible and is not confused with manual inflating. Do not apply an improvised load to prove it. The cord and the carabiners are controlled separately, because the jacket can be intact while the chain is damaged. Any arrested fall opens an extraordinary verification.
The anti-sprush cap must open without covering the face
Extract and observe sprayhood, elastic, window and fixations according to the procedure. It must be clean, transparent and properly placed. A matte window, degraded elastics or erroneous folds can compromise its use. Simulate the dry positioning without forcing the chamber and check that breathing remains free. Repeat the hood in the established compartment: leaving it loose can interfere with the opening, while forgetting it outside the housing exposes it to tears and sun rays.
The lights have their own battery, assembly and expiration
Check any light actually installed, without deducing its presence from the trade name. Lume-On and Pylon have different functions and positions in compatible configurations. Check fixing, orientation, battery or declared expiration and expected test method. Do not download a light for curiosity. Make sure that the chamber and hood do not cover it once open and that the cables, if present, do not cross critical folds. Record replacement as part of the jacket, not in the general inventory of torches.
The MOB beacon should not block the swelling
If a compatible transmitter is installed, check bracket, activation cord, antenna and expulsion space. Compare exactly model and integration instructions. Permit only the allowed autotest and also verify the reception or viewing of board with the procedure allowed, without transmitting false alarms. The beacon battery follows its expiration. A well loaded but upside-down unit, covered by the room or without the intended connection may not carry out the promised function.
Drying and cleaning preceded folding
After accidental spraying or immersion, follow the washing and drying indicated, taking into account that the water can activate the cartridge. Do not apply direct heat, hair dryer or aggressive products. All components must be completely dry before closing. Salt and sand remained in the zip or folds accelerate wear. If the mechanism is activated, do not attempt to get it back green without a complete and documented ream with the correct components.
Folding follows a sequence, not aesthetics
It completely deflates the room with the expected method, extends and folds panels, tube, hood, lights and beacons in the illustrated order. Keep manual control and opening points free. Do not compress with knees, tools or clamps. Close zip or lembi from the correct initial point and check the window. If the material remains out of place, reopen and repeat: a flat package obtained by forcing the folds is not a valid outcome. A second person can compare the result with the design.
The check before the exit lasts little because the register is good
Identity, appearance, window, command, belt and accessories are quick control. Room checks, cylinders, rehab and folding are carried out when planned or after specific events, not dismantling the device every day. A card for each jacket records outcome, interventions, spare parts and next action. In this way the short time does not become superficiality and every doubt produces a clear decision: ready, to be controlled or out of service.
The final test is done by wearing the complete system
Wear the vest with wax, strap, cord and personal accessories. Check locking, adjustment, arms freedom, control access and HRS release. Simula hook and pass along the cover path without putting the system under load. The asset must recognize automatic activation, manual command and oral swelling. the procedure is exceeded only when device and person work together: a perfect piece on the counter can be unusable over a wrong jacket.
An uncertain outcome is not ready
Dubious cylinder, incoherent indicator, damaged room, unidentified spare or accessory that hinders opening require removal from service. Do not refer because the sea is calm or because there is oral command. Label the piece, replace it with a verified equipment and entrusts the correct diagnosis. the procedure protects itself from this grey area: it transforms hidden details into decisions before departure, when there is still time to remedy without entrusting life to a guess.
