In coastal areas and Italian beaches safety depends on the quality of the decisions taken on the ground. The aspect to focus is separation between bathing and sailing from pleasure, because it can affect access, transit or stop.
Read the text, not the word
You should avoid memorizing limits read years before or applying to one location the rules of another. Number of the act, authority, validity and geographical limits are essential data; a screenshot without context can be misleading.
Prepare paper and crew
Before leaving with the boat, read the current order of the competent authority and graphically identify the areas concerned. During the briefing, the VHF listeners also communicate what areas should not be engaged and when returning to the alternative plan.
Keep margin
The most robust choice is to stay away when signs, corridors or presence of bathers are not clear. Checks start from Coast Guard e Hydrographic Institute of the Navy and complete with real weather and observation. A compliant route on paper must remain safe in reality; wind, traffic and fatigue can impose a more conservative choice.
