Ronstan Series 30: where really a hard cart is born under load

Installation Ronstan Series 30

A trolley Ronstan Series 30 can slide perfectly into the dock and become hard when the sail loads the manoeuvre. The symptom does not demonstrate alone a defect of the spheres. It can be born from the bending of the support, from a rail deformed during the clamping, from an off-floor terminal or from a top that enters laterally. The correct diagnosis separates these phenomena.

The family uses low-profile alloy trolleys on two rows of recirculation Torlon balls. Ronstan indicates it for randa trasts on boats up to 18 meters and genoa up to 17 meters. They are application fields: the final selection must consider sail plan, relationships, angles and structure of the single boat.

Identify the code before opening the system

They photograph cart, rail, upper attack, terminals and path of peaks. RC13003, RC13004 and RC13005 have different lengths and connections; RC13012, RC13013 and RC13023 change the number of pulleys and the presence of chokers. An initial distinction prevents rebuilding the circuit by memory and makes correct spare parts neat.

Record an initial smoothness measurement

Before loosening the fixtures moves the cart along the entire discharge stroke, annotating position and intensity of each hard point. It repeats with disconnected tops when possible. If the defect remains in the same section, the priority goes to rail and base; if it follows the load or a single wall, attack and circuits are investigated.

Check access under the blanket

The lower inspection identifies reinforcements, sandwiches, counters, wires and tool space. The technician defines core treatment, metal insulation and load distribution. If the structure is not known, the drilling stops. The sealant does not create stiffness and a washer does not automatically replace a suitable durable surface.

Use a rule on the support plan

Poisoning, bombing and twisting are sought before laying. The rail should not be used to straighten the blanket through the lock. Thickness or corrections require materials and procedures compatible with the structure. It is also checked that the base remains continuous if the project provides more connected brushes.

Distinguish fixings and holes for piston

RC1300 is 30 mm wide. The 8mm flared fixings are at 100mm interaxis; the 50 mm stop holes. The one-meter rail measures 996 mm, while the later versions measure 1.996 and 2.996. The two lattices are marked separately: using a stop hole as a structural point alters the expected sequence.

Round alignment RC1300
The rail must remain straight while the fixings are tightened by degrees.

Try the rail with screws just approached

The cart is loaded on the rail according to the procedure that keeps the balls under control. There are few fixes at a time, repeating the slide. An immediate variation indicates that the base or sequence is deforming the profile. It corrects before applying sealant or completing the clamping, when the intervention is still reversible.

Cross the joint slowly in both directions

RC1301J aligns two brushes, but does not prevent relative support movements. The cart must cross the connection without shock perceptible. The test is repeated after each group of fixings near the joint. A step under load requires control of the base, not the simple polishing of the end of the rail.

Check cricket and ligature in extreme positions

RC13003 uses a pivoting cricket on a 100mm body; RC13004 is 150 long; RC13005 integrates an eye for links or lashing on 120mm. The attack must be articulated without touching body, draft or blanket. The binding remains visible, without crushing and protected by the edges throughout the race.

Lock the simplest circuit first

With RC13012 you follow the two control pulleys and the centering occurs. RC13013 and RC13023 lead to four rivii; the second adds two C-Cleat. Each stroke is laid and tried before adding the next. This method makes clear the point where a top crosses or exits out axis.

Separate the main 2:1 of the RC13017

RC13017 integrates a 75mm frog pulley, three 50mm control pulleys and strokers. First try the main shot, then the lateral movement and finally the set. If the cart becomes hard only with the 2:1 in voltage, the connection height, direction of the shooting and bending of the base are controlled.

Enter two separate rocks in the RC13031

The 200mm long genoa trolley uses a wide pulley for two rocks and contains one hundred balls. Each top must reach the winch without rubbing on the cheek. One wall at a time and then the simulated sail change. Polished signs on one side or consumed trefoli reveal misalignment of the reference.

Do not confuse declared load and improvised testing

For RC13031 Ronstan declares 1,800 kilograms maximum workload and 3,200 breakage. These values serve technical selection and are not targets to be reproduced on board with uncontrolled means. The test grows for protected operating levels, observing bases, screws, terminals and behaviour of the tops.

Check pin and toggle on tangon trolleys

RC13044 accepts a 32mm toggle with 12.7 pin; RC13046 a 37 toggle with 12 pin. The pin must enter completely, the joint must remain free and the cart should not reach the end during the movement of the rod. The test follows all the planned vertical hike.

Choose the terminal by following the top

RC13084 has a single pulley, RC13085 adds a becket, RC13086 uses two pulleys and RC13087 two pulleys with becket. The RC00424 kit introduces the strozer on compatible models. It starts from the dead point of the top and follows each step to the operating station, checking grip and release from both ends.

Try the RC13083 without throwing you against the cart

The adjustable stop piston can be blocked lifted and the component can act as a safety to keep a cart in place. Complete grafting occurs in the holes at 50 mm and the ability to operate it with gloves. The buffers reduce contact, but do not turn the stop into a brake for repeated shocks.

RC13083 end inspection
The piston must completely enter the holes and remain inspectable.

Mount cap and finish in the correct role

RC13080 is the 37-millimeter hood; RC13081 is the end of the race. Before the dynamic test it is confirmed that the cart cannot leave the rail and that all the screws are flush. The hood protects the end but is not taken as a structural stop if the configuration requires the dedicated component.

Apply the seal without filling dislivelli

After dry testing, surfaces and holes are cleaned according to materials. The sealing compound limits the infiltrations and is not used as a thickness to correct the plane. The rail is laid without twist; the excess is removed and the repeated sliding while the clamping proceeds by degrees.

Increase the load in observable steps

The first pass stretches just the circuit, the second runs through the entire race, the third simulates a real adjustment in protected conditions. An operator maneuver and another observes. Base movement, dry noise, friction variation or unexpected contact interrupt the test. Location and configuration are noted before intervention.

Examine the system after the first navigation

Rolls, vibrations and alternating loads can reveal phenomena absent in the dock. After the first exits we compare pictures, position of the screws, sealing, bindings, cricket and marks on the tops. A repeated difference in the same point is diagnosed before increasing the clamping or applying unforeseen products.

Clean without hiding useful signals

Salt and particles are removed with rinse and unloading movement, keeping the cart path free. However, before cleaning, anomalous deposits, metal dust, fibers and polished strips are photographed: their position helps to recognize a lateral contact or misalignment. Additional products are used only when compatible with the manufacturer's instructions, because a sticky residue can hold abrasives and alter the observed smoothness.

Establish when stopping the manoeuvre

The crew stops the use if the cart suddenly loses uniformity, a fastening moves, the support shows a separation, the piston does not enter completely or a top has fast and localized damage. Continue to force makes the cause less legible and can transfer the load to a few points. The first action is to download the system safely and record location, configuration and conditions in which the symptom appeared.

The next decision distinguishes an ordinary restoration from a technical intervention. Cleaning and inspection belong to the routine; modification of the base, replacement of the fixes, alignment correction or revision of the sizing require adequate data and skills. This threshold prevents a structural defect from masking with lube or random clamping.

Store schema, codes and test result

The delivery includes component codes, design of the archer, position of the stops, images of the fixtures and behavior detected. The crew must know which signals impose the arrest of the maneuver. Only say “Series 30” is not enough for a spare: body, terminal, pulley and application must be identified.

Effective diagnosis follows load path

When a cart becomes hard, it starts from the shooting point and follows the action to the structure. Each step is isolated and tried. This avoids attributing to the spheres a problem born in the blanket or at the top and allows to correct the cause before wear and shock make it more expensive.

The Series 30 offers many configurations, but the method remains stable: identify, measure, mount dry, lock by degrees, arm a circuit at a time and test progressively. The speed of maintenance comes from this discipline, not from jumping checks that then must be repeated in emergency.
